Merry Christmas!

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!" (Luke 2:9-14 ESV)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Arrow Stage Lines takes over Powder River Transportation schedule runs.

Arrow Stage Lines has picked up service between Rapid City and Denver and Rapid City and Billings that were dropped by Powder River Transportation.

Arrow Stage Lines will run a daylight route from Denver to Gillette, using Interstate 25 through Cheyenne, Douglas and Casper. From Casper, the route will break northeast to Gillette via State Highway 387. From Gillette, passengers can hop on buses to Buffalo and Sheridan, or connect to Billings.

Arrow Stage Lines is also considering opening a depot in Douglas, where Powder River once operated a station but no longer does.

Arrow Stage Lines will not run routes to the western side of the Big Horn Mountains, where Powder River served Worland and Powell. The passenger numbers simply aren’t high enough to warrant that ride although the line could be reinstated in the future as demand warrants.

Arrow Stage Lines also runs routes between Omaha, Neb., and Denver via I-80 and I-76, plus two localized Nebraska runs. Recently added is a route between Denver and El Paso, Texas, via Colorado Springs.

NTA Convention A Success

To A Great Quarterback, Chuck Gunnels:

I am sorry I am just now sending you this note. Thank you, thank you for the super job, how you, and your Team performed, prior to, and during the NTA Conference. I was so proud to be there and see how professional our drivers were and the model you set was great. Your coaches looked great, and you modeled for others the way coaches, drivers should respond. The moves you handled were incredible. I continued to receive nothing but praise for the service and operations.

Great job to all! I appreciated the way Nikki and Lori (who spent the time to go above and beyond), Joe (Joe, for your great organizational skills), Phil (in dispatching), your cleaners, (Wow, people said the coaches were so clean; they even said they smelled good), and of coarse Wade and your mechanics, for keeping everything running.

On behalf of Arrow Stage Lines, the Busskohl family, and me, please express to all, our sincere thanks to you and you entire Team. (I hope I didn’t miss anyone, if I did I am sorry.)

Bless you all!
Bruce

Arrow Stage Lines Installs DriveCam in all Vehicles

Arrow Stage Lines has always made safety our top priority. We are always looking at ways that we can take safety to the next level. Doing so, we have installed DriveCam video event recorders in all of our charter bus fleets.

DriveCam mitigates risk by improving driver behavior and assessing liability in collisions by combining sight and sound, event analysis and driver coaching. Our approach reduces the likelyhood of you experiencing an uncomfortable ride while you are enjoying our luxury motorcoaches. We understand that a rough driver can make your trip unnecessarily long.

DriveCam’s approach is corrective and preventative. DriveCam's expert Safety Services Team helps Arrow Stage Lines ensure consistent coaching methodology across our company. This approach – daily analysis and management – delivers a guaranteed reduction in risky driving behavior for all of our customers.

At Arrow Stage Lines, we spend countless hours training our drivers to drive safely and smoothly. DriveCam is the best available system for our industry to be proactive about safety. DriveCam is another tool that we are committed to so we can provide you the best possible service.

Arrow Stage Lines Goes Green

As everyone works towards a cleaner environment, Arrow Stage Lines is doing our part to improve on a daily basis. We have added 87 new vehicles to our fleet, replacing older, less efficient vehicles, and we are preparing to add more. Each of the vehicles that we purchase from July (2007) forward will be up to date with the new DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) technology.

We are not able to offer vehicles powered by electricity or low emission fuel at this time. However, we are greener than you might think. The highest mileage car gets approximately 60 miles per gallon, whereas a motorcoach only gets 5 to 9. But if we adjust the numbers to reflect per-passenger fuel efficiency, the picture looks quite different. The per-passenger fuel consumption to travel 100 miles in a hybrid car is about 1.58 gal as compared to .275 gal in a motor coach. By using a motorcoach you might displace up to 56 passenger cars on the highway.

In addition to more environmentally efficient vehicles, we strive to update our maintenance program. We do extended maintenance every 6000 miles. We test oil samples with each oil drain, which allows us to change oil less often. We use synthetic oil, and recycled oil filters and batteries. We use high efficiency transmission oil and filters, which extend our change intervals. Our old antifreeze and used tires are picked up and recycled.

Our emission testing follows emission standards. We adhere to local code and regulations regarding minimized idling by drivers.

Our coaches have the latest technology in air conditioning, using less Freon. Because of this technology, our air conditioning units operate more efficiently. We operate our air conditioning according to the comfort of our guests.

In addition to maintenance, safety is as important to Arrow Stage Lines. We are testing a new GPS tracking system, which is scheduled to be installed on some of our vehicles in July. This will allow us to monitor and set perimeters for vehicle performance and speed, as well as driver skills.

We currently are testing the smart tire system on 50 of our coaches, which monitor and tell the driver if there is a problem with tire pressure. This in turn allows us to maintain better performance and enhance fuel economy, as well as increase safety for our passengers.

We have also installed a new fire suppression system on 50 of our coaches. This system has a sensor that detects a potential fire hazard and extinguishes before the danger can reach the passengers or the driver.

We have installed cameras in all of our vehicles, which is an added safety feature for our drivers and passengers.

Arrow Stage Lines feels strongly that we must all do our part in protecting the environment, as well as providing the safest environment for everyone.
